The bftpd server comes in two flavors, stable
and development. The stable version is designed
to be, well, stable, secure and unlikely to cause problems.
The development version is where new features and ideas are
introduced. The development branch is more likely to crash,
contain bugs or generally pose problems. For these reasons,
it is recommended you use the stable release unless you
are searching for bugs or helping the bftpd team test a new
